AVG Antivirus – A quick warning.

Just a short notice about some features for users who may still be using Windows XP and a recent version of Outlook (2003, 2007 or 2010).

We have discovered through some recent activity with clients that AVG version 8 and 9 (the most recent being 9) can occasionally strip html and images from emails BEFORE they arrive in your Outlook or Outlook Express.

The result is that you see lines of web code instead of images or links. See the image to get an idea of what happens.

Fortunately, the quick fix is to disable “email certification” in the AVG advanced settings which still allows for AVG to scan email but without taking action automatically.

Alternatively you can uninstall AVG and reinstall it to fix the problem in most cases.
